Our brains are broken. Our brains are not made to make rational decisions in a world where true threats to life are seldom encountered. My brain is not made to realize that I should judge you on your experience and not your website design. Your brain is not made to realize that you will process this paragraph differently depending on what you’ve eaten today.
Our brains evolved for a few things. The list of priorities in our brains looked something like this:
1. Find a mate.
2. Find healthy food and eat enough of it.
3. Don’t get killed.
Our brains developed to make us very aware of other humans, especially strangers, as we thrived in tight knit groups back then.
You brain is not optimized for right now. Your client’s brain is not optimized for right now. Accept that your marketing should adapt to a brain broken for right now and learn how to communicate with a brain designed for survival back then.
