Build a One-Page Profit Plan and Land 5-7 New Clients in the Next 7 Days

Business owners often know they want more clients, higher profits, and less time handling every detail. What they lack is a clear plan for what to fix first and the support to put that plan into action.

On the Garlic Marketing Show, Dan Kuschell of Breakthrough 3X joins Ian Garlic to discuss the One-Page Profit Plan. Their conversation covers growth priorities, marketing systems, customer messaging, and practical ways to pursue new business.

Dan’s workshop goal is to help owners leave with a plan to add five to seven clients in seven days. The approach starts by identifying opportunities already available to the business, then deciding what to do next.

Why a One-Page Profit Plan Makes Business Growth Easier to Manage

Dan originally built the plan for his own business. As his company grew to a couple hundred employees, he needed a simple way to keep the team aligned and prevent important work from falling through the cracks.

A lengthy business plan can become outdated or sit unread. Ian describes receiving AI-generated plans running 50 to 70 pages, sometimes from people who have not read the documents themselves.

The One-Page Profit Plan gives owners and their teams a shared direction. It focuses on what is working now and what the business needs to do to move toward its goals.

That simplicity matters because the plan is meant to guide action. Owners need to be able to use it, revisit it, and understand which priorities deserve their attention.

Find the One to Three Priorities That Can Improve Profitability

Before choosing a growth strategy, Dan asks owners to assess where their businesses stand. His framework examines approximately 20 components across five key pillars.

The questions are straightforward. Where is the business now? Where does the owner want it to go? Which weaknesses are holding it back, and which opportunities offer the greatest potential impact?

The goal is to identify one to three priorities that can improve profitability, create meaningful impact, or both. That focus helps owners stop spreading their effort across too many ideas.

A business may need better tracking, clearer messaging, or a stronger referral process. The assessment helps determine which changes deserve attention first, rather than assuming every business needs the same solution.

Fix Marketing Systems and Tracking Before Increasing Ad Spend

Some owners do not know where their domain is managed or how to access their hosting, CRM, analytics, or YouTube channel. Dan describes these gaps as weaknesses in the business’s foundation.

Increasing advertising before addressing those problems can expose existing leaks. More traffic does little to resolve unclear tracking or a lack of control over essential marketing accounts.

Dan also emphasizes knowing the cost of acquiring a lead, an appointment, and a client. Those figures help owners understand the economics of their marketing rather than relying on guesses.

Once the overall numbers are clear, the business can examine individual channels. Comparing acquisition costs across Google, YouTube, television, or radio helps owners make more informed decisions about where to invest.

Use Customer Stories to Sharpen Your Marketing Message

A business’s message needs to evolve as its clients, services, and goals change. Dan recommends listening directly to customers rather than assuming the company already knows what they value.

He describes working with Ian’s team to capture client stories. The interviews explore where customers were before working with Breakthrough 3X, what changed, and what they would tell someone considering its services.

Those conversations reveal specific reasons people buy. They can also uncover strengths that the business has overlooked in its own marketing.

Dan emphasizes preserving customers’ actual language when using those insights. Specific experiences help a company communicate more clearly and build trust, while generic messaging can make it sound like everyone else.

Build a Seven-Day Client Plan Through Referrals and Existing Opportunities

Dan breaks planning into 90-day, 30-day, and seven-day periods. The immediate question is what the owner can do to pursue the next five to seven clients.

He discusses activating partnerships, opening new traffic sources, and reactivating opportunities the business already has. His point is that growth opportunities may already exist within the company’s relationships and resources.

Referrals are another example. Many owners say they want more referrals but do not consistently ask clients for introductions or recommendations.

Dan’s process includes tools and scripts to help owners make those requests. The workshop target is a plan aimed at five to seven new clients in seven days, supported by specific actions rather than a general wish for more business.

Help HVAC and Flooring Owners Move Beyond Doing Everything Themselves

Dan’s connection to home service businesses is personal. His dad was a mechanic who could repair cars and air conditioning systems, but his attempts to build businesses failed and put the family in bankruptcy.

That experience shaped Dan’s interest in helping blue-collar owners. He describes the challenge of moving from technician to business owner, especially when marketing is unpredictable or agencies control essential accounts.

His team helps address those systems and manage marketing so owners can build teams and focus on running their companies. Dan reports that some clients starting with advertising budgets of $100 a day later invested $50,000 to $60,000 a month because the marketing was profitable, over a period of one to two years.

He also discusses a flooring company exceeding $650,000 a month and a California HVAC company reaching $700,000 to $800,000 a month. Both were aiming for million-dollar months at the time of the conversation.

The episode does not detail every action behind those individual results. Dan connects the broader growth discussion to having a proven plan and implementing it consistently.

Put the Profit Plan Into Action With Tools and Specialist Support

Ian raises a familiar problem with events and masterminds. Owners can leave excited about a thousand ideas, then return to work without the time or support to implement them.

Dan’s approach includes templates, scripts, checklists, and playbooks that help turn priorities into action. Owners can also connect with specialists when a particular part of the plan requires outside expertise.

Sales and marketing playbooks serve another purpose. Documented systems help a business operate without relying entirely on its owner, which matters to owners who eventually want to sell.

The next step is to set aside time to work through the plan. Ian recommends downloading it, putting time on the calendar, and spending an hour getting started.
